Guðmundur Tyrfingsson began operations in 1962 with their first coach, which was a Dodge Weapon 1952 that was bought as an ambulance from the US base in Iceland. Guðmundur rebuilt the vehicle and began using it for corporate- and school driving.

Guðmundur Tyrfingsson Ltd was formally started in 1969, the same year the first coach was built.

In 1971, Guðmundur Tyrfingsson built a Nissen hut in Selfoss. Fourteen coaches were built there.

In 1993 the company moved to a new building, Fossnes C in Selfoss. At the same time a daughter company, Tyrfingsson Ltd, was founded and located there. Tyrfingsson Ltd sees to the construction and maintenance of the company’s coaches.

Since the beginning all effort has been made to offer good service, new coaches and a reasonable price.

Tour organization has been part of the company’s operations since the beginning, but has increased over the last few years. Today we organize all sorts of tours, for a longer or shorter time.
