Northern Lights tour
This tour includes a visit to the popular Ghost Center, the Icelandic Wonders Centre, and adventure search for the Northern Lights.
Northern lights, scientifically called “Aurora Borealis”, are a celestial phenomenon that has amazed people for centuries. The Northern Lights are often seen in the northern regions. The magical displays of shifting colored light are strange and beautiful enough to transcend their scientific explanation, which says that the Northern Lights are caused by solar wind from solar storms colliding with the Earth’s atmosphere.
On this tour we drive towards the old fishermen’s village Stokkseyri, well known for its rich stories of ghosts and elves
- At Stokkseyri, we first visit the Icelandic Wonders, a centre dedicated to the Icelandic elves, trolls and the Northern Lights. We
go into the elves’ space and the trolls’ cave that displays their way of life. www.icelandicwonders.com
- Our second visit is to the popular Ghost Center, where you listen to different ghost stories from Iceland while wandering through a 1000 m2 labyrinth reminiscent of the actual stories. These are 24 short stories, offered in different language (English, German, French, Scandinavian, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Icelandic). This takes about 45 minutes. Moderate spooks and haunting are on the house. Drinks can be purchased at the center’s bar. www.draugasetrid.is
Please note: The Ghost Centre is not recommended for children aged 12 and under.
- After this ghosts’ experience, we leave for an adventure hunt of the Northern Lights.
- During the hunt, we drive to places where we can likely see and enjoy these amazing dancing lights at their best, if weather conditions permit.
