We are delighted to learn that our newly published Geo-Site Guide, written as an option for our Geography School Tours to Iceland, has recently gained RECOMMENDED status from the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers (SAGT). The award was gained at the SAGT Conference held at the end of October.
The author, Ian K Hardie, is very well known in UK geography circles for his professional, expert and in-depth knowledge of all…
things Icelandic. Indeed, previously, his many written geography works have gained accreditation from both the SAGT and the GA (Geographical Association). We are particularly proud in GT Travel to now have Ian “on board” with us to assist us in GT Travel as we develop our own very special Geography Study Tours.
Quoting from the SAGT Committee who made the award, “ … The judges felt that this study guide would appeal to school groups travelling to Iceland and really liked the use of?images and colourful diagrams, as well as the range of tasks that were included … “
Sample pages from the Geo-Site Guide can be viewed on the GT Travel website (www.gttravel.is). The Geo-Site Guide has been written in a compact style, not too bulky, but with sufficient information to give good context for each of the study sites and strong visual stimuli using maps, diagrams and pictures. For each study site, questions and tasks are set, enabling the pupils to fully engage and evaluate the geography topics and issues present. All these questions/tasks are open ended, making them appropriate for use with pupils of all levels.
We are very happy too that Ian is available to discuss with teachers all aspects of taking a school group tour in Iceland with GT Travel. His knowledge and experience is second-to-none and his attention to detail is legend! So, if you would like to make an initial enquiry, please just contact us via … Contact Us!
