Did you know that in Iceland we have 13 Yule lads ?
They all have different names, and their mothers name is “Grýla” and their fathers name is “Leppalúði”.
The first Yule lad comes to town on the 12th of December, in the morning kids are excited to see what they got from the Yule Lad. He gives them presents or potatoes to those that behave badly, he puts the goods in a shoe that kids leave in their window. Some kids even leave them gifts or letters.
On Saturday the Yule Lads came to town here in Selfoss. There is a tradition that is 40 years old in December when the Yule Lads come to town, people come together sing Christmas-songs and welcome the Yule Lads to town.
We were lucky enough to meet the Yule Lads on their way to town on Saturday and catched one Christmas-song with them.
