Day 1:
Arrival into Iceland; to accommodation.

Between the Continents, Power Plant Earth, the Blue Lagoon.

ADDITIONAL DAY OPTIONS
In order to make a longer Tour or to act as substitutes to the above Day Options, here are some other itinerary possibilities:-
1. Heimaey, Westmann Islands
Spend a day on the volcanic island, walking over
the 1973 lavas (lavas that almost closed the island’s important
fishing harbour), over buried houses and ascending the
new volcano Eldfell (which is still hot at the top!). In the
island’s town of Vestmannaeyar, there is much to see
and do as well (see Additional Options below).

2. Thingvellir in a.m. & Reykjavik in p.m.

3. Jökulsarlón Glacial Lagoon, Vatnajökull.
(NOTE: this is a long day with extra coaching but it is well worth the trip).

4. Hekla > Landmannalaugar (Summer months only)
Travel in to true wilderness in the Southern Highlands. The area lies astride the Mid Atlantic Ridge and the volcanic landscapes present superb scenes.

7. Snaefellsnes.
Take a 2 day tour to the beautiful Snaefellsnes (the starting point for Jules Vernes’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” < something not yet on our schedules!).
– Visit the beautiful Snæfellsjökull National Park with its glacial and volcanic landscapes
– Take walks along an erosional coastal area with cliffs, caves and blow-holes
– View the activities of the fishing industry in north shore ports
– Visit the colourful town of Stykkishólmur and/or take a boat trip to Flatey island.
– Take time on a golden beach, not the usual black sand beaches!

8. Stokkseyri.
A small town where you can get sleeping
bag accommodation and activities around.
– Kayak for groups.
– The Ghost museum.

Swim in an outdoor geo-thermally heated pool/soak in hot pots at end of day. There are many to choose from, even in the smallest settlement.
In Reykjavik, good options include:-
- Whale Watching;
- Volcano House (films about Heimaey and Eyjaallajokull);
- Perlan Viewpoint;
- Hallgrimskirkja Bell Tower;
- 3-D Model of Iceland in the Rádhús.
- Plus, of course, good shopping and cafes.
