This is really happening, and we are so happy about it.
On May 12th the president of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir held a press conference where she announced changes in travel restrictions to Iceland.
Now the rules are that you are only allowed in Iceland coming from countries within the Schengen Area, and even coming from there you must go into two weeks quarantine.
Guest visiting Iceland after June 15th can make a choice: go into immediate two weeks quarantine, get tested for the coronavirus. Or they can present a clean bill of health from health authorities from home. Visitors of Iceland will also be asked to install an app called Rakning C-19, that will trace their travels in Iceland.
But until June 15th no visitors outside the Schengen Area will be able to enter Iceland.
And from the local news, swimming pools re-open next Monday. And a week later the gym´s will re-open as well.
Little inside information, this is something EVERY Icelander is waiting for now !! We love our swimming pools and we also try our best to stay active every day.
Good news like these really gets our hopes up for the upcoming summer.
If you have been thinking if it is possible to visit Iceland soon, now you have some answers that could help you planning.
